How small a gap can a mouse fit through?
An adult house mouse can squeeze through a gap roughly the size of a dime — about 1/4 inch. Rats can fit through openings around 1/2 inch. That's why locating and sealing every entry point is essential to permanent rodent control.
Why isn't trapping alone enough to solve a rodent problem?
Trapping removes the rodents currently inside your home, but it does nothing about the openings that let them in. As long as those entry points stay open, new rodents will move in from outside. Permanent exclusion — physically sealing the structure — is what stops the cycle.
Do rodents in the attic really require insulation replacement?
Yes. Rodents tear up insulation for nesting material and contaminate it with urine and droppings, which can carry pathogens such as hantavirus and salmonella. Contaminated insulation also loses much of its R-value, so removal and replacement restores both sanitation and energy efficiency.
Can mice and rats really cause house fires?
